Westward along the river Nidd.

Starting in the Nidd Gorge this visit I decided to walk westward along the river Nidd to see what I had been missing. After the horrendous weather we have had over the last three months the gorge itself can feel like a bit if a death trap. Parts are very steep, rocky, and currently full of very slippery and slimy mud. Walking westward however you do get to a much more easy to negotiate river section which has been recently maintained using a lot of gravel.

Despite being relatively early, the dog walkers had beaten me to that part of the river which negated any wildlife photography. However I did pick up some useful local "intel" about where otters can be found. Luckily my trusty red robins made sure it was not a completely wildlife free trip.

On the way back I am pretty sure that I found an ent in waiting, and experimented with slow shutter speeds to "freeze" the river motion. I used 1/4 second shutter speed and was amazed that the picture did not suffer from camera shake from being hand held. I must try this properly with a tripod in the near future.
